Hi, I’m Judy. I’m a mom to a lovely little girl and partner to a wonderful man. We live in Southern California. After an 18 year career as an Electronics Engineer, I decided to start a family. Though still fast paced in many respects, and monetarily a disaster, being a SAHM has been the best job I’ve ever had. I’ve never looked back. With my new role as mom I’ve been going through a healing journey with my daughter who has had to deal with migraines, leaky gut and allergies. The dietary and other changes we have implemented have been challenging, though rewarding, as she’s been migraine free for quite some time.
I believe, since high school, I have always tried to live a somewhat healthy life. I became much more conscious in my daily decisions with regard to food, products, and our environment shortly before becoming pregnant.
I was disheartened with so many things that I read or experienced as I was trying to take it all in. I was overwhelmed with all the decisions and possible changes that I could make. I somehow wish I could have just set it all aside and not be so bothered with it, but more importantly, I wanted to experience life with energy and joy. Seeing how everything around us, all that we do and eat affects us, our family took small steps in finding ways to build up a better us. My pregnancy was a dream… easy all the way through and happily expecting that special day. With natural birth, our precious daughter arrived.
Then, one morning, our then, 3 year old daughter woke at 3 a.m. from a deep sleep, screaming, crying, and saying over and over again that her head hurt… I was scared. She had a MIGRAINE. We had dealt with some colic and severe allergies in the years prior. We would go to decent restaurants, ate healthy with fresh organic fruits and vegetables, meats that were not full of antibiotics…. not the typical SAD diet and rarely anything from a package. So, why did she have these (at one point, frequent) migraines, allergies, leaky gut and multiple other issues? It’s a long story, and you can read more about it on my GAPS page if you’d like.
She is doing so much better now in so many ways (though has more healing with regard to her allergies). And I’m feeling great and doing better as well, so I am thrilled to take on a new challenge and create this site to share my findings and help those who are seeking more information as I did. We will still continue to make our health a priority; we’ve made healthier eating and clean living a habit, part of our everyday lives. It’s a beginning, a continually evolving way of life that I hope my daughter will, in the future, continue with her children and those she loves.
I’m excited to share my journey, in this blog, about leading a healthier life, such as healing methods, references, information on decisions that we face daily (real food, nutrition, products, recipes, resources and discounts)… that could provide a safer home or environment for us to enjoy and to live a more balanced life. I’m not the most eloquent writer, but I am so grateful for the healing – physically, mentally and spiritually, that has happened in the past several years that I am inspired to share my “findings” to those who are seeking information, in a more concise format, to add a bit of simplicity that I felt I did not have at the time due to my frantic searching. I hope that you will share your comments, suggestions, experiences, and ask questions so all can benefit.
Thank you!
Judy

Hi Judy,
I love that you are giving back to communities across the globe in such a grassroots manner. I for one, cannot wait to be lucky enough to take advantage of all the research that you’ve done and all I have to do is go on your site! Judy, Thank you so much for posting about your resources list on the GAPSHelp list at Yahoo Groups. I needed to find a new supplier for bones to make broth with and just spoke to the owner of Blackwing’s. What a find! I could have searched for hours, but you led me to the exact site I needed to find. Many thanks. I’ll be subscribing to your blog.
